Greg Johnson

Presenters Bio

Greg Johnson (aka DJGJ) is an English DJ/presenter with more than 5 decades of experience. He delights in introducing new generations to the music that formed the backdrop to his youth. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all genres of music from the 1960s to the 1990s - with a special emphasis on classic rock, blues, soul and reggae – as well as a deep love of prog rock, glam rock and art school music. DJGJ’s shows on Delux Radio are an entertaining mix of fun, facts and frivolity. The youngest son of former concert pianist, Kathleen Locke, he was brought up in a household full of music and was influenced by a myriad of styles from classical through jazz, to soul, blues, Motown and hard rock. The first record he ever bought was “It’s All Over Now” by the Rolling Stones and his first live concert was the Eel Pie Island festival that featured Fleetwood Mac, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Status Quo. When he was sojourned in the Lake District in the mid-70s, DJGJ was part of the (very) Northern Soul scene. His favourite pastime is walking the Sussex Weald with his wife and faithful collie, Fidget. He is also a big fan of rugby, tennis, golf and theatre and has even been known to don the greasepaint and tread the boards himself!
